WJWC condemns Houthis’ arrest of five academics

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) strongly denounced the Houthi militia for breaking into Sana’a University , assaulting academics and students , and arresting five professors, including Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhahiri, chairman of the University’s teaching staff syndicate.

Houthi militiamen on Sunday stormed the varsity precincts as students and academicians were staging a rally protesting the continued detention by the Houthis of Dr. Abdul Majeed Al-Mikhlafi and demanding the professor’s immediate release. Mikhalfi has been languishing in Houthi-run prison for four months now.

The professors whisked away by the militia are Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhahiri, Dr. Ali Saif Kulaib, Dr. Abdullah Al-Faqeeh, and Dr.Adnan Al-Maqtari .

The media advocacy group voices full solidarity with the abductees, urging all human rights groups and civil society organizations to decry such reckless acts by the wantonly mindless militia and to press for the instant release of the pundits before it is too late.
