The participantsof the symposium " Yemen journalism: the margin which we want" have called to create wide horizons for press freedoms and allow to express opinions with sounds, images or writing.

A number of participants at the training course demanded the neutrality of the official media and considering the opposition an integral part of the political system.
Head of the Popular Forces Union's branch in in Aden Ali Mahdi Mahlation behalf of the Joint Meeting Parties presented a working paper entitled " the needed journalism margin: the opposition's view and their responsibilities. He affirmed the importance of creating an institutionalized journalism for Yemen and all Yemenis on the basis of responsible dialogue.
He said that this dialogue will contribute in getting the state out of disasters and troubles.
Mahlati called the authorities create a national association which includes all national forces to put a strategy in which ensure setting up a permanent constitutionwhich may not be altered.
He affirmed the importance of taking actions to protect journalists from any prosecutions due to their opinions, calling the government to take a firm decision to facilitate the opening of independent and party TV channels.
For his part, the writer Abdul-Fatah al-Hakimi presented a working paper entitled "Journalism in Yemen: an assessment view". He said that the joint current crisis in the authority and opposition's journalism lies in not distinguishing between the journalism position and its social mission.
He presented data of a comparing study between the performance of the authority and opposition newspapers.
Dr. NajeebMoqbil said, in an intervention entitled "The ruling's party's view and responsibility of adopting freedom of expression"that journalism plays enlightening role in the community, describing the journalism in Yemen as the journalism of reactions.
Moqbil said that journalism only look for internal issues while there are more important issues than them, calling for the embodiment of noble humanitarian issues.
All the participations were enriched with interventions by journalists, intellectual personalities, media practitioners and artists in Aden governorate.

WJWC concludes course oncaricatures

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) on Thursday have concluded a course oncaricatureswhich were held for four days in Sana'a City. The course targeted 16 women who are interested in cartoons.
Chairwoman of WJWC Tawkolkarman has said that there is no a woman which work as a cartoonist though there are more than 20 important public, private and party newspapers.
Karman reiterated that women sometimes contribute to newspapers as cartoonists but they swiftly quit because they have no enough knowledge and skills of this art. They can't keep up to media changes, so most of them work for child magazines.
Karman affirmed that the course aimed to encourage women to work as cartoonists and provide them with needed knowledge. It also aims to end the monopoly of this art by men, particularly as many women have good talents of drawing.
The Palestinian cartoonist OmaiaJuha, who was supposed to participate as a trainer, said it can't cross the Rafah border crossing because the Israeli occupation forces refused to allow her to go out.
" I wished to be with you but it is enough that my cartoons are presented on your exhibition. I hope that the paintings of the Yemenitranees will win the respect and admiration of many" she added.
The Yemeni cartoonist Hameed al-Maswari and the Palestinian cartoonist Amani al-Baba trained the participants.
