
Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) strongly condemns the abduction of journalist Majed Zayed by members of the Houthi militia in the capital, Sana’a, and his subsequent transfer to an unknown location.
According to verified information obtained by the organization, journalist Zayed was forcibly taken on Monday, September 22, 2025, as he was leaving a medical center on Khawlan Street by armed individuals affiliated with the Houthi miltia.
WJWC expresses profound concern over this blatant violation of press freedom and the safety of journalists. The organization holds the Houthi militia fully accountable for the life and well-being of Majed Zayed and demands his immediate and unconditional release.
The organization further calls on all international human rights and humanitarian bodies, including those dedicated to freedom of opinion and expression, to condemn this act and to apply all necessary pressure to ensure the release of Majed Zayed, as well as all journalists and media professionals currently detained in Houthi-controlled facilities.
