Mauritanian Investigative Journalist Saleck Zeid arrested

Saleck Zeid, an investigative journalist in Mauritania, was arrested on April 19, 2023, for his Facebook posts about recent criminal activities in the country. 

Women Journalists Without Chains has demanded his release and expressed concern over the decline in Mauritania's press freedom and freedom of expression, urging the government to stop enforcing the Code of Symbols, which restricts journalistic freedom.
