Deteriorating health condition of Essam Beghaith in prisons of Houthi militias

Journalist Essam Belghaith’s health condition has deteriorated and his life will be in real danger if he is not transferred to hospital for treatment, reported a source close the detained journalist.

Saleh-Houthi militias had abducted Essam Belghith along with eight other journalists from the capital, Sanaa, in early May, 2015.

About nineteen journalists have been detained by the Iran-backed militia and forces loyal to its close ally, the ousted president Saleh, for periods ranging from moths and two years.

The brother of Belghaith said his brother has been affected with helicobacter pylori and suffers from constant dizziness.

Not to mention that, the brother adds, he is suffering a cold in the half of his body while the temperature in his body’s other part is very high, in addition to his suffering from inflammation of kidneys and colon and urinary tract infections.

"A prison doctor visited him four months ago and stressed the need to transfer him to the hospital, pointing out that his condition requires several medical examinations to diagnose the nature of his diseases," explained the brother.

"But since then, his case has not been presented to a specialist doctor, causing his health to decline seriously, as he is no longer able to stand on his feet."

Belghaith’s brother confirmed that all detained journalists, without exception, suffer from diseases and need to be taken to hospitals, appealing to human rights organizations to intervene quickly and urgently to put pressure on Saleh-Houthi militias to allow the transfer of Essam to the nearest hospital.

He concluded by saying that the militias are responsible for any further complications caused by ignoring such appeals.
