WJWC denounces assaults made against journalists

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) has threats and attacks committed against journalists and media practitioners and burning the distribution vehicle of Akhbar Alyawam and Yemen Fox.

A distribution vehicle was shot and copies of the newspapers were burnt in the governorates of Aden, Hajjah, al-Hudeidah, Marib and Sana'a City.
WJWC decries these infringements made against newspapers of AkhbarAlyawam and the English-Speaking Yemen Fox. The distribution bus driver was shot wounded and the vehicle was burnt, as sources of the newspapers stated in a press release.
Unidentified gunmen on Saturday assaulted Akhbar Alywam's distributor, the distribution bus in Aden, wounding one person, abducting the others and taking over the bus. They also burnt the copies of Akhbar Alyawam and Yemen Fox allocated to Aden.
They also denounced the attack against the journalist Safwan al-Faishi by gunmen in Marib governorate. He was prevented from taking photos of electricity towers which were attacked by saboteurs in Marib.
It also denounced the assault on Yemen TV cameraman, Ali al-Ba'adani and confiscation of his camera, microphone and other equipment.
It denounces the threat against the cameraman of Suhail TV Ahmed al-Jahsahri by tribal men in Hajjah city . His camera and other equipment were taken by force while covering a protest of armed tribesmen in Hajjah city.
It also strongly denounces the reporter of Marib Press Ashraf al-Flahi. He was seized by an officer of the Political Security Apparatus for half an hour at Movenpick Hotel in Sana'a City when covering events of the National Dialogue Conference.
They also condemned the attempted abduction against Reuters reporter Abdul-Rahman al-Ansi by armed gang consisted of three persons who are reportedly affiliated to a tribal leader.
WJWC denounces continuing violations committed against journalists and media practitioners, pointing out that the interim government played no role in putting an end to infringements.
