WJWC Condemns Enforced Disappearance of Writer and Poet Al-Eryani

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) strongly condemns the enforced disappearance of Yemeni writer and poet Oras Al-Eryani, who was abducted on the evening of September 22 after leaving his home in the militia-controlled capital’s Sa’wan neighborhood, Sana’a.

According to preliminary reports, armed members of the Houthi militia intercepted Al-Eryani outside his residence and forcibly took him to an undisclosed location. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown.

WJWC holds the Houthi militia fully responsible for Al-Eryani’s safety and demands his immediate and unconditional release, alongside all journalists and media workers currently held in Houthi prisons.

The organization warns that the continued targeting of journalists, writers, and opinion leaders by the Houthi militia represents a systematic campaign against freedom of expression and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian and human rights law.

WJWC calls on all international and local human rights bodies, press freedom organizations, and humanitarian institutions to denounce Al-Eryani’s disappearance and to increase pressure on the Houthi authorities to reveal his whereabouts and release him without delay.
