WJWC condemns continuing attacks on journalists

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) expresses deep concern over the violations and attacks committed against journalists and media practitioners. The violations have sharply increased during the few last days. 

These vicious violations made against expression freedom increased as the Houthis dominated and took over the state institutions. 

It condemns the storming of the private al-Ahali newspaper and the attempt to loot its content. 

While WJWC denounces this incident, it demands the security agencies to swiftly arrest the culprits and bring them to justice. 

It also condemns the abduction of the journalists and activist Mujahid al-Salali from the town of Rada'a while he was heading on Monday to prepare a report on refugee conditions. 

It also condemns the measures taken by Houthi militias against Deputy Minister of Information Faud al-Hemyari who was forced to leave the Information Ministry. 

It also condemns the assault on a journalist of al-Eshtraki Net, KhaleelAlwan, who was beaten by armed gang in Aden.

He was wounded with bruises at his face, back and hands. His pocket money was also looted. 

WJWC also condemns the assault on Faud al-Muslimi whose car was attacked and damaged by unidentified men. This assault came one day after unidentified men stormed his house and looted its content. 

While WJWC denounces these attacks carried out against journalists and media practitioners, it demands the relevant authorities to bring them into an end.
