Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) strongly denounces the brutal massacre carried out by Israeli forces against a group of journalists and media professionals while they were performing their professional duties on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the capital, Sana’a.
Based on information obtained by the organization, the Israeli airstrikes deliberately targeted the Moral Guidance Building, in addition to the offices of the 26 September and Al-Yaman newspapers. The attacks claimed the lives of six journalists: Abbas Al-Dailami, Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, Youssef Shams Al-Din, Abdullah Mahdi Al-Bahri, Ali Al-Shahari, and Abdullah Al-Harazi. Several others sustained critical injuries.
WJWC extends its deepest condolences and unwavering solidarity to the families of the victims and to the wider press community. It stresses that this deliberate targeting of journalists reflects a systematic policy of intimidation aimed at silencing the press and obstructing the documentation of crimes committed against civilians in various Arab countries. The organization affirms that such actions constitute war crimes under international and humanitarian law and represent a blatant assault on freedom of the press and freedom of expression.
Women Journalists Without Chains calls for an immediate and independent international investigation into all violations committed by Israel against journalists, with full accountability to be pursued before competent international courts.
WJWC further urges all international organizations and institutions concerned with press freedom and human rights to take a clear and firm stance against these crimes and to act without delay to halt the ongoing bloodshed that journalists continue to face in Yemen and across the Arab region due to persistent Israeli attacks.
