Ar YJS demands journalist’s release after deteriorating health condition in militia-held prison in Sanaa
The Yemeni Journalists' Syndicate (YJS) has demanded the coup’s militias of Houthis and ousted president Ali Saleh to take the journalist Tawfiq al-Mansouri to hospital after his health deteriorated due to the torture by the militias since his abduction in June 2015.
According to almawqea.net, the YJS said in a statement on Friday that it has received information on the journalist’s deteriorating health condition who has been kidnapped since June 2015.
The statement added that al-Mansouri’s health has significantly deteriorated, as he is suffering heart disease and shortness of breath as well as benign prostatic hyperplasia, which has paralyzed his movement, while the militias prevent him health care in the political security prison in Sanaa.
Yemen’s affiliate of IFJ has blamed the Iran-backed Houthi group for torture, cruel treatment and denial of the right to medical treatment and visits the detained colleagues are suffering from in detention centers, and has reiterated its demand for the immediate release of all abducted journalists.
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has called on all human rights organizations concerned with freedom of expression, especially the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Union of Arab Journalists, to demonstrate solidarity with the kidnapped colleagues and exert pressure to provide safe conditions of detention.
