Journalist Mohsen abducted by Houthi militia

Abdul Rahim Mohsen, a journalist, was abducted by the Houthi militia from al-Raheda, a town east of Taiz province, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a source close to Mohsen's family, the kidnapping took place while the abductee was heading to al-Raheda for treatment after his health deteriorated due to the recent rise in diabetes.

Following abduction, a group of militants on board a military vehicle broke into Mohsen’s house tampered with its contents in the village of al-Husayyya at Salou Directorate.

The militia forced his family under threat to hand over his personal phone, Mohsen was quoted as saying.

The abductee’s family held the Houthi militia and forces loyal to ousted president full responsible for his life, demanding his urgent release.

It is noteworthy that Journalist Abdel Rahim Mohsen is one of the most famous political, media and intellectual opponents of the putschists.

Yemeni Journalists' Syndicate (YJS) has condemned the abduction, holding the coup’s authority responsible for his safety and personal security and demanding his immediate release .
