WJWC expresses disapproval of hysteric detentions made against journalists, activists

Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) strongly denounces the hysteric detentions carried out by the Houthi Movement against journalists and youth activists who refuse the Houthi takeover on the state institutions.

WJWC also condemns the detention of AmeenDabwan, Yasser al-Shaybani, Yahya al-Suwari, Mohammed al-Faqeeh and YahyaHumran from Sana'a City.

The crackdown imposed on freedom expression show to what extent the militias are hostile to freedom of expression.

WJWC warns against the takeoveron the state institutions by the armed militias and issuing a constitutional declaration which threatens expressionfreedom and endangers multiparty.

Moreover, WJWC calls civil society organizations and political parties to express their stances towards infringements committed by the Houthis and stand by freedom of expression which witnessed its worst stages in Yemen.

All Yemeni governorates refuse the takeover of the militias, and this refusal is a clear-cut evidence that the Yemeni peaceful February 2011 Revolution will continue and not accept the coup.
