Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) expresses deep concern over the takeover on the Yemeni state by the Houthi militias and using force to control the Presidential Palace and the Republican Palace.
The bloody fighting erupted in Sana'a on January 8th and 9th is an integral part of the coup which started when the Houthis took over Sana'a City on September 21, 2015.
WJWC voices concern over the political vacuum Yemen is currently witnessing after President Hadi and Prime Minister resigned. We cautions against plunging the state into a sectarian war.
WJWC expresses its refusal of this coup and full support for Yemenis who oppose the coup and demand to put an end to the coup through using legitimate peaceful ways.
We also condemns killings, assaults and detentions carried out by the Houthis against civilians during confrontations which erupted lately in some parts of Sana'a City.
It also cautions against creating an explosive situation in Marib governorate, pointing out that this will cause disastrous consequences at the national level.
