Ar Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) has vividly condemned the brutal torture made against a young man, Mohammed al-Dhahiri, who is detained by militias of the Houthis and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Al-Dhahiri was inflicted with paralysis and lost the ability to speak. He was kidnapped by Houthi militias in January from the area of Murais, al-Dhala'a governorate. He was put in jail and deprived from being treated.
WJWC described the violations made against al-Dhahiri as a crime against humanity and a violation of all international treaties and conventions regarding the treatment with captives and detainees.
WJWC has called all local and international organizations, particularly the United Nations, to condemn these criminal acts committed against detainees.
WJWC said that such acts show the real criminal face of the militias and their brutal acts made against detainees.While it held the militias of the Houthis and Saleh fully responsible, it demanded to swiftly release all detainees and journalists from their custodies, pointing out that more than 6,000 detainees are held inside their custodies, as local and international organizations report.
WJWC calls all public and international human rights groups, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights to condemn these grim violations committed against detainees. It also urged them to move forward and put pressures on the militias to release all detainees.
