WJWC condemns abduction of journalist al-Jaradi in Sana'a

The Women Journalist Without Chains (WJWC) expresses grave concern over the news reported by colleagues that the journalist Obad al-Jaradi has disappeared for three days in the Sana’a capital under the control of the Houthi militia.

The WJWC calls for the speedy disclosure of Al-Jaradi's fate and the release of all journalists kidnapped in the militia's jails.

In this context, the WJWC expresses its strong condemnation of the continued systematic violation of journalists, and considers all forms of abuses against journalists and political and human rights activists in the areas run by the Houthi group - ranging from kidnapping, enforced disappearance, arbitrary arrest and to torture- as a flagrant violation of local and international conventions and norms.

Thus, the WJWC calls on all civil and human rights organizations to put pressure on the Houthi militia in this regard and condemn the grave violations against the press and journalists.
