Yemen Press – A schoolboy has been brutally assaulted and tortured by a school’s principal in Yemen’s rebel-held capital, Sanaa.

The student lost his unconscious for long time after he was subjected to brutal beatings and torture, added the sources.

According to pictures shared by relatives of the aggressed al-Hakami, signs of torture are obvious on his body, especially on head and back areas.

Activists deemed the incident an example illustrating the state of education at the time of the militias of Houthis and ousted president Ali Saleh.

In the meanwhile Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) denounces the physical assault incident happened to Mohamed Abdel Salam al-Hakami, a schoolboy at al-Sha’ab School in Yemen’s militia-held capital Sanaa.

WJWC, while deploring such violent practice, deems this behavior an inhumane and non-educational approach that has negative effects on the educational environment and poses a threat to the educational process as a whole, warning of any psychological and physical consequences that may arise from such violations.

The organization demands to investigate into the incident and hold the perpetrator accountable, noting that he is fully responsible for safety of the student's life, and calling on all human rights organizations and those concerning with education and childhood, mainly UNESCO and UNICEF, to condemn these hostile acts against students.
