Looting of a journalist’s house on International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists

Housebreakers broke into the house of journalist, Abdul Kareem Mohammad Abdul Kareem al-Razi, tempering with and causing serious damage to contents and looting tools and electrical appliances including electric power devices, TVs and monitors as well as prized possessions such as jewels and valuable accessories.

Al-Razi, who is the media director at Youth and Sport's Fund in Yemen and editor in chief of youth voice newspaper, had fled, along with his family, to his village after clashes intensified in the militia-controlled upper area of al-Jahmaliya overlooking the military hospital, in province of Taiz.

In a complaint he has filed, the member of Yemeni Journalists Syndicate mentioned that his house is located in an area run by Houthi militiamen.

YJS has condemned the looting, calling on the security and competent authorities to quickly uncover the circumstances of the theft and restore what has been stolen and looted.
