Journalist Imran’s health continues to deteriorate while Houthis continues to reject treatment

The health of detained journalist Abdul Khaliq Imran has so badly deteriorated that he has been no longer able to move after he had been tortured at the political security prison by the Houthi militia that rejects every attempt to take him to hospital, according to his brother.

This came in a press conference attended by journalists, media workers and relatives of journalist Abdul Khaliq Imran in the province of Marib on Monday, where Imran’s family launched a campaign to demand the Iran-backed militia to urgently transfer Imran to hospital and release him and his fellow colleagues.

Participants in the campaign denounced the actions of the militia that prevents the families of abductees from visiting their relatives in detention, which reinforces fears that the abducted journalists might have been at great risks as a result of continuous torture.

The statement issued by the campaign expressed disappointment at the poor response from international human rights organizations and agencies affiliated to the United Nations whose special envoy to Yemen has done nothing towards the imprisoned journalists.

The statement called on Yemen’s exiled president, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, to act quickly and make every effort to save the colleague Abdul Khaliq as well as to work on the release of Abdul Khaliq Imran and all colleagues who have been abducted for more than a year.
