Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC) received a report from journalist Ahmed al-Suhaibi working for Yemen Monitor news website in Taiz province, that he was threatened with physical liquidation via SMS on July 17, 2017.
The threatening SMS received from a local phone number included offensive words and death threat.
According to the journalist’s notice, this threat came only days after al-Suhaibi had reported on his Facebook account that members of Taiz-based 35 armored brigade were involved in the liquidation of the security director of Al-Misrakh district last Friday
While condemning the threats against the journalist, WJWC urges local and security authorities in the city to investigate the incident, uncover the circumstances and arrest the accused, and warns against harming the journalist’s safety.
