Houthi militias assault families of detainees held in Habrah jail

Families of the detainees held in Habrah jail were attacked by militias of the Houthis and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The militias also pointed weapons at them and prevented them from visiting their detained relatives, as they stated.
The families spelt out that they were barred from visiting their relatives or delivering food and medicines to them, reiterating that the militias also took over their pocket money.

"A member of the militias assaulted a female relative of a detainee at the jail's yard after being inspected. The so-called Abu Hamzah Yahya Abu Salah hit her until she fell to the ground" the families said.

Meanwhile, some detainees have recently visited cells inside the jail, and when militias saw them, they pointed weapons at them, threatened and intimidated them. They also bring police sniffer dogs to inspect the detainees and cells.

The detainees' families demanded to swiftly release their fellow relatives and not to deal them as a war captives.
They also asked to put an end to infringements committed against them and remove the obstacles they face when coming to visit their relatives.

They appealed to Yemeni tribes and social figures to stand against heinous acts practiced by the militias of the Houthis and Saleh, pointing out that they violate values and morals of Yemenis.
