A number of families in Ibb province held a protest on Tuesday morning to demand the release of their members kidnapped and forcibly disappeared by militias of Houthis and ousted president Saleh.
Coming together in front of the headquarters of the Ibb province, protestors called on the de facto authority to reveal the fate of the disappeared and urgently release all abductees in prisons of Houthis and Saleh.
Saleh and Houthi militias seizing control of the province hold dozens of opponents in detention, some of whom have been abducted nearly for two years.
In the meantime, participants expressed their condemnation of torture against those held in detention and prisons of the coup militias either in Ibb or in the other provinces under their control.
The female protesters raised banners and chanted slogans expressing their demand for releasing their members, holding the kidnappers accountable and stopping human rights violations in the province and Yemen in general by Saleh and Houthi militias.
Some of female demonstrators complained that they were prevented from visiting their relatives in prisons of the militias, while others said they have no idea about their members, describing their fate as “unknown”.
They demanded human rights organizations and those concerned with human rights issues and freedoms to carry out their responsibilities and quickly intervene by exerting pressure on Houthi and Saleh militias to release their relatives.
In a statement issued by the families, the protestors held the governor Abdul Wahid Salah, Houthi leaders and ousted president fully responsible for abductions and violations against their relatives.
