The Houthi militia taking over Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, today decided to stop six employees working for the militia-controlled official institution of Al-Thawrah for Press and Printing, and bring them to the public prosecution against the backdrop of demands for wage entitlements.
The militia attributed its arbitrary action against Hisham Al-Hakami, Majid Al-Hakami, Ali Madghah, Abu Bakr al-Maqaleh, Salah Heba and Taher Al-Nuzaili to inciting chaos and sparking off a riot within the institution for more than once.
The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) announced solidarity with the arrested journalists.
It’s worth mentioning that the Iran-backed Houthi militants had resorted to using force and firing live bullets against a protest held by a group of the staff of Al-Thawrah on last Wednesday in the rebel-held capital Sanaa to demand overdue salaries.
