After hours of arrest, Mukalla’s authorities release correspondents and photographers of Yemen Youth, Belgees and Suhail

 Authorities of the southern port city of Mukalla released correspondents and photographs of Yemeni TV-channels of Yemen Youth TV, Belqees TV and Suhail TV on Thursday evening, Yemen Youth TV reported.

Media sources confirmed that the authorities in the capital city of Hadramout province released the media workers after seven hours of detentions.

The authorities in Mukalla had detained the aforementioned channels’ correspondents and photographers while they were in a hotel in the city center.

Local sources had reported to yemenshabab.net that military forces arrested the reporter and the photographer, Khaleel Al Taweel and Amr Al Serori, who are working for Yemeni Istanbul-based Belqees channel, the reporter and the photographer of Yemen Youth TV, Diab Al Shater and Waleed Al Ja’oury, and the reporter of Suhail TV, Zain Al Abdeen.

For their part, sources in the three opposition TV stations, which are broadcasting from abroad, emphasized that channels’ managements have been in touch with the authorities to clarify the matter and remove the confusion.

They pointed out that their teams coming from the province of Marib where they work to cover the events visited the city of Mukalla for the purpose of tourism.

However, the city’s authorities have not yet issued any statement or explanation about the incident.
